Top 5 Cons of Wearing Glasses

New here?  Follow us on Bloglovin'!
We've both had glasses for quite a long time.  If you have glasses, you know the feeling of realizing you should be able to see the leaves on trees, among the other struggles of wearing glasses.  So you can probably relate to at least some of these.

Glasses struggle problems

1. Drastic temperature changes leave you blind.
When you walk into your warm house from being out in the cold your lenses get crazy foggy.  Happens with hot drinks too.  You'll probably wait to see if it will return to normal, but of course it won't so you'll be forced to wipe them off. ugh

2. The rain.  And snow.
When walking in the snow or rain, your glasses get covered, even if you're under an umbrella the whole time.  Lens size windshield wipers would be nice. . .

3. Driving at night.
Glare. Glare everywhere.  Then there's driving at night in the rain and you might as well be at a freaking laser show jeez.

4. Laying down.
Sometimes laying down is the best way to watching TV.  But glasses cause this to be difficult and often painful.  However, if you take your glasses off you won't be able to see the show.  Then, if you accidentally fall asleep with your glasses on, they're going to be quite out of shape.

5. Taking pictures.
Even professionals can't always avoid getting the glare glasses cause with flash.  Be prepared to attempt to tilt your head at every angle possible to avoid it?

Do you struggle with any of these?

10 Things You Never Hear Dancers Say

New here?  Follow us on Bloglovin'!

1. Wow! I'm really excited to sew new pointe shoes this weekend.

2. It's not awkward to go back to wearing a leotard and tights after break at all.

3. Gosh I hope the rehearsal director makes us wear our pointe shoes the entire 4 hour rehearsal.

4. Stage make-up looks great on me and I think I might start wearing it normally.

5. I've never lost a single bobby pin.

6. Hairspray? Oh, I don't bother with it.

7. I hope we only do fouettes on the left today.

8. Nah, I really don't care what kind of costume I get.

9. Yeah, I had like 3 almonds for dinner.

10. Mark it? I'd rather do it full out.

Eight Education Essentials

New here?  Follow us on Bloglovin'!
I started school again yesterday.  My independent work took me maybe 3 hours.  It's kind of annoying having nothing to do once I'm finished, but I'm sure I'll be a lot busier and far more stressed out once dance starts.  But, for now I'll spend my down time cleaning and reading.

Today, I want to share with you my top 8 needs for back to school.

Like a pen, but erasable & doesn't wind up smearing all over your hand.  Not having to deal with pencil sharpening is definitely a plus as well.

I can use this app to organize my assignments, get reminders about due dates & class times, and keep track of test dates.  It's great to have everything in one place.

These are my ultimate pen crush.  They write so smoothly and the fun colors are great for note taking!

I. Love. This.  I use it all the time- my walls are practically covered in it.  I love edging pages in notebooks with it or using it to create tabs.  Great for organization and extremely cute.

These are great for marking pages in text books as well as notebooks.  I'll definitely be using these when we read The Great Gatsby later this semester.

These confused me a lot at first.  They still kind of confuse me.  I first discovered them in drivers' ed, but now I love them.  I'm not a huge fan of capping highlighters since I'll probably just need it again in 30 seconds, but these never dry out so I don't have to worry.

7. Wall Calendar
These are great.  A dry erase one is best, but anyone will work.  While it's nice to have calendars on your phone and computer, sometimes actually seeing it helps.

I can barely last an hour with my hair down.  It doesn't matter how long I spend straightening it, I always get annoyed with it in the way and I need to pull it up.  I always like to keep one of these hair ties on my wrist for those situations.  The plus?  They look cute as a bracelet too!

February Goals

Erica Ashley-Faith, Hope, Love

1. Go over my BTI parts regularly!  Don't want to lose any progress!
-I’ll start putting this on my daily to-do list
-I can also make a reminder on my phone so that I at least think through them before bed!
I did pretty well with this and haven't forgotten anything!

2. Get on a normal(ish) sleep schedule.  Going to bed at 2 am really isn't going to fly much longer.
-Reminders on my phone will also be crucial to this.
-Logging out of Tumblr after 9 wouldn’t be a horrible idea either.
-I’ll set alarms so I get up at a decent time, which will also encourage me to go to bed at a decent time
I didn't really set any reminders, but I regularly went to bed around midnight, which is better than 2 am right?  I didn't fall asleep for a while of course.  Then I didn't get out of bed until like 9, even though I was up at 6 and just responding to e-mails, texts, and on tumblr.

3. Do all of the Inspire Me Blog Challenge!  I have trouble coming up with post ideas usually, so this will really help.
-I’ll just keep doing all the posts!  I haven’t really had any problems yet.
I didn't do all of this!  I stopped about 60% through.  The beginning stuff was fun though!

4. Stretch, stretch, stretch!
-This will also go on my to-do list
-I’ll make a habit to start stretching when I get to the studio since I’ll have a good half hour before class starts.
I've definitely been stretching more and even using a resistance band on my feet!

5. Bake more often.  I have time & it's fun to bring food in to dance haha!
I haven't had a as much time to do this as I would have liked but I did do some.

In February I want am going to

1. Use my thera/resistance band to stretch my feet everyday.
-I'll keep it hanging from my door to remind me!
-It will also go in my daily to-do list.

2. I'll do 60 releves each day of the first week, 70 the second, 80 the third, and 90 the last
-This will also go in my daily to do list
-It's something I can do while I'm brushing my teeth or washing my face

3. Clean & keep clean
-I'll have to start by cleaning and organizing my room, but it will be easier to do little bits each day
-Once it's clean, I can dedicate 30 minutes each day to straightening, dusting, and anything else that needs to happen to make sure it stays clean.

4. Save more
-Instead of keeping the money from my birthday, I'll put it in my bank account right away.

5 Tips on Auditioning

New here?  Follow us on Bloglovin'!
This weekend I'm auditioning for the ABT Summer Intensive.  I'm really just going for audition experience.  Here are my top 5 tips for going to and audition!

1. They want you to succeed.
-They're not having auditions so they can critique dancers.
-The end goal is to have people they want to accept into their program or company.

2. Stand in front.
-How are they going to see you if you're in the back?
-It may seem like a good idea to stand in the back if you don't know the combination, but then they won't be able to see you at all and probably won't consider you.

3. Be confident.
-Stand with your head tall, shoulders back, and hands at your side.  If you are looking down and have your arms crossed you are closing yourself off.  That's not what you want to do!
-If you don't think you can do it, why should they?

4. Look put together.
-Don't come with your hair crazy. Use a hair net and lots of hairspray. You don't want your bun coming out in the middle of grandé allegro.
-If it says you can wear any leotard as long as it is a solid color, you can take that one of two ways. You could wear black, navy, or blue and look professional, but possibly blend in. The other option is to wear a color like hot pink and get noticed. Either is fine, but if you're wearing hot pink, you have to be prepared to be watched.

5. Eat well.

-Auditions are generally tough and sometimes physically demanding. Going to McDonalds for breakfast probably is not the greatest idea.
-Eating oatmeal, toast, or eggs and fruit for breakfast will help keep you full through the day.
-You should also bring water to the audition as you may get a water break. A granola bar or other simple snack for after would be a good idea as well.
