Kiss Graduation Polish

This is Katie, Monday Cassandra painted my nails with Graduation Polish by Kiss in the gold color.  There are three steps- the first one is painting your whole nail with a mixture of a shiny white and gold tan color. The second polish goes on the last third of your nail and it is a sparkly tan.  Then, the last one goes on the last half of the nail and is all tan and silver sparkles.  Here is what you get!

I think this nail polish is pretty.  My nails make most polish chip off in a day or two, but this one stays on well.  I like this polish and would suggest it if you like sparkles.

DIY Thursday- How to Mail a Slice of Cake

This is the third installment of DIY Thursday!  Maybe I'll actually start remembering more often.

Well Wednesday was Katie's mom, my aunt's, birthday.  So my brother and I decided we were going to make her a surprise gift and mail it to her since we're on vacation and can't be there for her birthday.

Then, browsing Pinterest I saw the idea and it linked to here.  I thought it was hilarious, and said we should try it!  So that day we went to the hardware store and got all our supplies.  It took us about 5 days to complete.  Here's what we did and how you can do it yourself!

This month I signed up to do a Cara Box exchange for the first time.  For those of you who don't know, the Cara Box exchange was set up by Kaitlyn at Wifessionals.  It's an exchange where you sign up and are paired with 2 other women.  One sends to you, the other you send to.  You spend the first part of the month getting to know them and then toward the end you send them a package based on what you found out about them and what the theme was and a note of encouragement!

DIY Thursday: Getting Rid of Blackheads

I'm 14.  I have acne.  Quite a bit of it to be honest.  It's getting better slowly, but it's still definitely stressful.  I have so many different creams and gels I put on my face, but none of them really do anything.  The other day when I saw on Pinterest that you can get rid of blackheads with milk and baking soda, I was skeptical.  It seemed way too good to be true.  But it's worth a shot right?  I have milk and baking soda, both are pretty cheap- what have I got to lose?

Turns out that was a great idea.  It worked super well.  Not only did it make all the small blackheads disappear, it greatly reduced the size of the large ones, made my pores close up more, and made my skin feel totally soft!  If you're anything like me, you probably think I'm insane right now.  Who puts milk on their face right? But it works.

All you do is take 1/4 cup milk and stir in a tablespoon of baking soda.  The baking soda will keep settling so you have to keep stirring it before you put some on your face.  You can use a makeup sponge or a paper towel if you'd like, but using your hands works just fine.

I'm still on vacation, but we're having someone send us our mail, so I'll have my Cara Box soon so I can share with you guys!  In the mean time check out Hannah (sent to me) and Whitney (who I sent to).

Hoop-la Vintage Custom Earrings

Recently I learned about hoop-la earrings.  Hoop-la is a unique brand- I've never heard of something like this.  They sell vintage, custom earrings.  There are many different styles to choose from all entirely unique and special.

Most of the earrings on this site are around $14.  This is fairly affordable- not expensive, but not cheap says that they're probably high quality.  It is a good price for this style of earrings!

They have 24 different earring styles.  Each style comes in multiple colors too.  The styles all have names some of them are Lola, Betty, Fidelia, and Winnifred.

My personal favorite is a style called Jane.  It is a dangly, tear-dropped shape earring.  It is almost eyelet like and comes in eight different colors.  You can see for yourself here.

I think these earrings are great for the summer especially and are really cute!  They'd go well with jeans and a solid colored top.  They aren't so fancy you can only wear them with dresses, but a casual dress would look cute too!

The site also sells bracelets and headbands- both are pretty cute.  You can find the bracelets here and the headbands here.

Have you heard of Stitch Fix?  Stitch Fix is a site that sends you sets of clothing when you request it.  These sets are personalized to you and based on the style profile you fill out when you first join!  The style profile asks you questions about your size, personal style, how you like items to fit, and more.  There's a small styling fee- $20.  This however, can be used to purchase anything in your box.  You get 3 days to pick what items you want to keep after they're sent to you and after that you send what you don't want back.  If you choose to send everything back, they still keep the $20.  If you choose to keep everything, you get a 25% off discount!  Sounds great, right?  Well if you sign up using my link here, I get a free $25 credit when you order your first fix!  Plus when you sign up, you'll get your own unique link to share with friends!

Colors Used: Sephora by O.P.I. Meet Me at The Disco, random L.A. colors mini blue, RCM White Hot, RCM Red Carpet Reddy

First, paint your thumb nail blue.  You can pick any shade of blue you'd like- I went for a brighter almost tealish blue.

Next, add a glitter top coat to just that nail.  I used Sephora by O.P.I., but Fairy Dust by China Glaze would work well too, or any other sparkly polish!

Next, paint all your other nails white!  I used Red Carpet Manicure White Hot.  I went through the whole gel process- Prep, Base, Color, Top Coat!

Next take a dotting tool and make red stripes on your white nails.  Make sure your nails are completely dry before you start though!  Then add a top coat and you're finished!

I first heard about this brush on Influenster.  I considered buying it for a while.  It seemed like a pain to have to leave my brush out on the counter to dry, where it would be in the way.  About a month ago we moved out to our boat for the year.  We have 2 full bathrooms here, opposed to just one at the house, but they are much smaller.  I finally gave in and bought it when I decided it would make things much easier.

Hair loss is common in women too!  It is commonly thought that men are the ones who have hair loss problems, but 40% of people who suffer from long or short term hair loss are women!  Unlike men, women rarely develop a receding hair line.  More commonly, the hair starts to thin all over, the center part starts to widen, or a distinct baldness starts at the crown of the head. 

Before we go any further with that, let’s talk about how hair grows.  On average a person has 100,000 hair follicles on their scalp.  Each follicle produces only one hair that generally grows at a rate of 6 inches per year (or a half inch every month).  A single hair will grow for 2-6 years, and then rest a while before falling out and being replaced.  Around 85% of a person’s hair will be growing at a time, while the rest is resting.  Because resting hairs fall out regularly, losing 50-100 strands per day is normal. 

Sometimes there can be no specific cause for hair loss, but there are around 30 different medical conditions that can trigger it, as well as many lifestyle factors.
